A NOTE FROM THE TABOR NOW CHAIRMAN
The public support the TABOR NOW campaign continues to attract proves that the movement for lower taxes and reasonable government spending is strong and growing. Mainers know that lower taxes are crucial to improving the Maine economy, especially during these challenging times. With the TABOR NOW initiative, new jobs and opportunities and a stronger, more prosperous future for our children and grandchildren are just one election away.
During the 2006 Maine Taxpayer Bill of Right campaign, politicians promised to make real tax relief a priority—as long as Mainers voted down that citizen initiative. Since then, Augusta politicians proposed to increase the sales tax, the meals and lodging tax, taxes on small businesses, the cigarette tax and the transfer tax. Our State’s gas tax still increases automatically every year, and last November, Mainers had to take action to repeal a $75 million tax increase on doctor visits and beverages.
Politicians have proven over and over again that they will not reduce taxes. They are squandering opportunities for our families because they refuse to change. Now it’s time for Maine citizens to create real tax relief for ourselves.
It’s time for TABOR NOW.
